Superior portable air conditioning for any aircraft at a fraction of the cost of other options. The Sofie module is placed anywhere in the aircraft cabin and the heat is transferred aft of the rear bulkhead using patented PSA liquid technology. "Installation" is incidental and removal and reinstallation for inspections takes only minutes. Inefficient ducting is eliminated for improved cooling efficiency. A dial control and digital buss voltage readout allows cooling level adjustment to the aircraft electrical system limitations. The Sofie pre cools from an APU or a 120 volt extension cord with a built-in GPU without cabin access! A pump in the air conditioner module pumps condensate overboard. The Sofie also allows cooling aircraft interiors during maintenance.

The heat transfer module connects to the main cooling module with flexible hoses and quick disconnec couplings. Efficient 9 blade fans disperse the heat. Handles attach on three sides for temporary installation with zip ties. The ampere current draw and cooling capacity is adjusted for the aircraft power limitation reference to a digital voltage readout. That way the alternator power limitation is not exceeded.

Installation Diagram- The "cooling" main module of the Sofie is placed in the cabin. The cooling module connects to the heat shedding portion of the Sofie by two liquid lines for efficient heat transfer. Sofie is a non STC’d temporary installation that can be removed in a few minutes.

Quick disconnect couplings for the 3/8" ID liquid hoses and bulkhead hose feedthroughs are supplied for a professional installation. This makes placement and removal of the Sofie a snap.


Installation Options



Peter Schiff Aero will install your Sofie air conditioning at our facility at TN80 in most any general aviation aircraft with a minimal alternator current capacity of 70 amperes.

One or two (large cabins) Sofies cool the cabin. Hoses can be routed under the floor. One heat exchanger is installed in the tail drawing in outside cooling air through a vent screen/ doubler. The other heat exchangers are positioned aft to maintain flow direction.

One inflow vent/doubler is installed and several inspection covers are modified with vents for improved cooling air outflow. An on-board GPU powers the Sofie from an extension cord for pre-cooling without Cabin Access. The GPU may also power the avionics for software updating.
